New Appointments:

Nick Robertson – Associate
Environment and Planning

Nick joins the firm’s Environment and Planning team as a specialist in property development, urban and regional planning, and environmental administrative law. Nick joins the firm also as an experienced commercial and insurance litigation solicitor. Nick regularly provides advice to local government clients and private developers on issues arising under the Development Act and Regulations 1993 including advice on development assessment, compliance, and the regulation of building work. Nick regularly drafts statutory documents under that Act including enforcement notices and land management agreements.

 

Melanie Lynn – Conveyancer
Property, Infrastructure and Development

Melanie Lynn joined Norman Waterhouse as a Conveyancer in July 2006 having recently completed her Advanced Diploma in Conveyancing. Melanie brings to Norman Waterhouse over 4 years experience in the conveyancing industry with specialist skills in residential settlements and experience in the preparation of all Real Property Act documentation, contracts and forms. 

 

Brooke McEvoy – Solicitor
Financial Services

Brooke joined Norman Waterhouse after completing a Clerkship with the Financial Services Team.  Brooke’s experience since joining Norman Waterhouse includes research and assisting in the interpretation of legislation affecting financial services providers and others including Corporations Act, Banking Act, Consumer Credit Code and Privacy Act; advising and representing financial institutions and general insurers; advising on legal compliance related issues; transactional work and litigation arising from the provision of financial services; drafting a varying range of Commercial Contracts and Trust Documents and preparation of Wills and obtaining Probate. Her skills in financial services will be a valuable addition to the team.

 

Maria Ho – Senior Associate
Commercial Services

Maria commenced as a Senior Associate in the Commercial Services practice in September 2006. She has been practising in the areas of commercial and corporate services for over 5 years and has extensive experience in general corporate and intellectual property matters, as well as litigation. Before joining the legal profession, Maria worked as an arts administrator in a number of cultural organisations including the British Council of Hong Kong and the State Theatre of South Australia. Maria is fluent in spoken and written Cantonese and Mandarin and is an accredited NAATI Level 3 English-Chinese translator.

 

Victoria Treloar – Senior Associate
Family Law

Victoria returned to the firm in 2006 and has significant experience both as solicitor and counsel and provides specialist advice in all areas of Family/De facto disputes including divorce, property settlement, residence and contact issues. Victoria has sound knowledge in the preparation of legal documents and remains abreast of current developments pertaining to her areas of practice.  She is customer focussed and sensitive to the individual needs of her clients.

 

Pierina (Rina) Reina – Senior Associate
Local Government and Environment and Planning Teams

Rina returned to Norman Waterhouse in 2006 as a Senior Associate in the Local Government and Environment and Planning Teams. Rina has extensive experience advising governments at different levels in South Australia and elsewhere including NSW, ACT, Vanuatu and the UK.  She was previously employed by the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) and is also a lecturer in Environmental Law in the Engineering Department of the University of Adelaide and has an Honours degree in Chemical Engineering.

 

Damien Timms – Solicitor
Insurance, Trade and Transport Services

Damien joined Norman Waterhouse in June of 2006. Prior to joining the firm, he worked for two years as Research Associate to the President of the Industrial Relations Commission of New South Wales. During his time at the Commission, Damien gained experience in many areas of law, including occupational health and safety, unfair contract and award interpretation. Prior to joining the Commission, Damien worked for a national law firm specialising in insurance law. In that time, Damien worked on a broad range of matters including personal injury, workers’ compensation and motor vehicle accident claims.

 

Clifford To – Solicitor
Town Planning and Local Government Services

Clifford joined the Norman Waterhouse Local Government and Town Planning team in August 2006. He comes to us with experience in the technical aspects of town planning. As a town planner, he worked in the strategic and statutory planning departments in a municipal council in western Sydney, conducting development assessments and devising local planning policies. As a solicitor, he has appeared in State and Federal Courts in a variety of disputes and developed a commercial litigation practice. Having a genuine interest in the regulation of land development, he majored in environmental law in his Master of Laws course. He now wishes to specialise in town planning and local government advising as well as making appearances in the Land and Environment Court of New South Wales.
