IS YOUR RATES DECLARATION LEGALLY COMPLIANT?
Budget time is well and truly upon us and Councils’ declarations of rates are of critical importance in the budgeting process. In light of the recent extensive amendments to the financial management and rating provisions of the Local Government Act 1999 and associated Regulations, it is recommended that Councils exercise extreme care in ensuring that the basis upon which their rates are declared, along with the declarations themselves are correct and accord with those provisions.
As we have done for a number of years, Norman Waterhouse is again pleased to offer Councils the opportunity to have their rates declarations assessed for legal compliance. The service offered will include checking and amending (if necessary) Councils’ rates reports and declarations and settling or drafting the requisite Gazette notice to ensure full compliance with the provisions of the Local Government Act 1999 and associated Regulations.
This will again occur on a fixed fee basis, being $330 (excluding GST). We are also pleased to offer Councils the option of having their rates notices verified for an additional $70 (excluding GST).
