General Capability and Experience

Greg joined Norman Waterhouse in early January 2009 as Partner and leader of the firm's Corporate and Commercial Team. 

Greg practices corporate and commercial law with his principal areas of practice being mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and capital raisings. He acts for many large Australian businesses and has particular experience in the resources industry.  In 2008 he completed a three year part time secondment as a corporate lawyer for Santos Limited.

In addition to being a commercial lawyer Greg is a qualified mining engineer with ten years practical experience working on many different resources projects and operations throughout Australasia and Canada. Greg is also the current Chairman of ASX listed Archer Exploration Limited and was at one time a non-executive director of ASX listed Gawler Resources Limited.

As a lawyer with “hands on” operations and boardroom experience and time spent as an in-house lawyer, Greg is aware of the broad range of issues which confront business and has gained first hand insights into many commercial and technical issues that other lawyers in private practice generally may not appreciate. 

Greg’s mixture of technical expertise and commercial acumen has enabled him to assist clients with designing and implementing optimal transaction structures and the identification, valuation and management of key risks.

Areas of Expertise

• Extensive experience in advising on the legal aspects of the acquisition or divestment of Australian companies and businesses such as due diligence and the operation of Australia's foreign investment law.
• Advised a range of Australian and offshore clients on general corporate law and corporate transactions, including joint ventures, capital raisings and corporate restructurings.
• Regularly advises on a range of general corporate law matters, including directors' duties and governance issues.
