General capability and experience

Greg is a partner of Norman Waterhouse and manages the firm's Commercial Litigation Team. Greg commenced legal practice in 1986, and is an experienced commercial litigator. Greg joined Norman Waterhouse in 1990, having previously practised in Sydney and London.

The focus of Greg's practice is in the area of intellectual property, however, Greg's experience includes significant exposure to the trade practices, contract, debt recovery, insolvency, and defamation areas. In 1992 Greg also represented the South Australian Minister for Tourism in the Worthington enquiry into allegations of conflict of interest concerning the Minister for Tourism.

In the intellectual property area Greg has significant experience in the copyright and trademark areas, but his particular expertise is in patent law and litigation. Greg regularly provides advice on patent matters and he has conducted a number of successful proceedings in the Federal Court. Greg is recognised as one of Adelaide's leading patent law litigators, and his clients include prominent manufacturers and patent attorneys.

In the trade practices arena, Greg's litigation experience centres on consumer and competition law areas including misleading and deceptive conduct, price fixing, abuse of market power, third line forcing, product safety and recall.

Norman Waterhouse is retained to provide legal services to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission and Greg is the prime contact for this relationship.

In addition to advising many of the firm's major private clients, Greg also plays a significant role in the provision of commercial litigation advice to Local Government in South Australia. Norman Waterhouse is the leading legal advisor to Local Government in South Australia, and Greg regularly advises the firm's Local Government clients in relation to commercial disputes. Whilst at Norman Waterhouse Greg has provided successful legal and strategic advice to Local Government in a number of high profile disputes which attracted public and media interest.
