Penny Chalke – Associate

General capability and experience
Penny joined the firm's Corporate and Commercial Team in January 2009. Previously she had been working in London as an in house legal advisor for the Food Standards Agency (a UK government agency) and in the Commercial and Regulatory Legal Division of the British Broadcasting Corporation. Penny began her career at Norman Waterhouse as a law clerk in 2004 and was admitted to practice in 2005.
Penny's experience since joining Norman Waterhouse includes the following:
- assisting companies with the undertaking of due diligence prior to acquisition;

advising individuals with business transactions, particularly for small businesses;

assisting with the establishment of trust and business structures;

advising incorporated associations on regulatory issues;

advising on corporate law matters associated with local government;

advising on a range of general corporate law matters, including directors' duties and governance issues.

Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice, College of Law, New South Wales 2005
Bachelor of Laws (with Honours), University of Adelaide 2004
Bachelor of Arts (Politics), University of Adelaide and University of California, Los Angeles 2003
Penny is also currently undertaking the AICD Company Director's Course.
