General capability and experience

Peter was admitted to legal practice in South Australia in 1998.

Before joining Norman Waterhouse as a Partner, Peter spent six years at a specialist environment and development law firm where he advised and represented a wide variety of private and institutional clients in the areas of environment protection, town planning, land use, property development, and natural resource management.

Prior to that, Peter worked at the Crown Solicitor’s Office where he served as an in-house solicitor at the Environment Protection Authority and as a Research-Assistant to the former Solicitor-General for South Australia.

Peter appears regularly as counsel in the Environment, Resources and Development Court in planning and development appeals, enforcement proceedings and EPA licensing and enforcement matters.  He also acts for clients in appellate and administrative law / judicial review proceedings in the Supreme Court.

Areas of Speciality

• Environment protection, EPA licensing and enforcement, site contamination, native vegetation, natural resources management and water resources law;
• Town planning, property development, land use, heritage, significant trees, land division, building and development enforcement and compliance;
• Property-related matters and disputes including in relation to easements and restrictive covenants, encroachments, land acquisition, road opening and closure and boundary issues.

• Honours Degree of the Bachelor of Laws (University of Adelaide)
• Bachelor of Arts (Jurisprudence) (University of Adelaide)
• Graduate Certificate of Legal Practice (University of South Australia)
