General capability and experience
Rebecca McAulay joined the Norman Waterhouse Environment and Planning Team as a solicitor in February 2006 having previously gained two years legal experience at a middle tier firm in Adelaide. Her areas of specialty include urban and regional planning, environment, building, water resources, native vegetation law, telecommunications and native title.
Personal strengths and achievements:
- Advises and acts as counsel in planning and enforcement appeals in the Environment, Resources and Development Court.
- Acts as instructing solicitor in planning appeals and judicial review proceedings in the Supreme Court.
- Prepares Land Management Agreements, enforcement and criminal prosecution proceedings relating to the Development Act 1993.
- Provides general and strategic advice on a diverse range of issues relating to matters under the Development Act 1993 and related legislation.
- Presents seminars to local government and other related bodies in relation to training and current issues in environment and planning law.
- Four years of employment experience in the Planning and Environment Department of a large metropolitan council.
- Regular contributor of articles to publications such as the Stock Journal, National Grape Growers Magazine, Your Land, SA Planner and the National Environmental Law Review.
- South Australian Editor of the National Environmental Law Review.
