About Taara
Taara joined the Norman Waterhouse team in 2018 and has become an integral part of both the Native Title and Resources team and the Property and Commercial team. Taara also works closely with our Local Government team.
Taara was admitted to practice in early 2005. She commenced her career at the Crown Solicitor’s Office where she worked in the Native Title Section (later the Commercial, Environment and Native Title section) for over 13 years.
During her time with the Crown Solicitor’s Office Taara undertook several in-house secondments within Government agencies, providing advice on administrative and legal processes and complex policy issues associated with land transactions and agreements involving native title and Aboriginal heritage.
In 2018, Taara joined Norman Waterhouse Lawyers where she quickly became an integral part of the Native Title, Resources & Renewable Energy team. Taara also works closely with the Property & Commercial and Local Government teams.
Taara is a specialist native title and land access adviser, known for her rigorous, outcomes‑focused approach and for guiding clients through complex, high‑stakes negotiations with clarity and confidence. She advises on complex native title tenure and commercial native title agreement‑making for major resource and development projects and has led and supported the negotiation and settlement of numerous native title claims across South Australia. Taara has worked extensively with State and Local Government as well as native title holders, Aboriginal organisations, industry and community groups. Taara is committed to achieving outcomes that meet each client’s specific needs and understands that every transaction is unique, delivering both meaningful and sustainable outcomes.
Taara brings extensive experience in property law matters involving native title, Aboriginal heritage, Crown land, community land, and administrative law, together with expertise in negotiating and drafting complex agreements and settlements. Her ability to navigate sensitive issues, build trusted relationships and translate legal risk into practical commercial strategies makes her a valued adviser to clients and the broader community.
