About Rebecca
Rebecca takes a straightforward and commercial approach to advising clients in relation to their regulatory and major project strategies.
She advises on agreements, statutory approvals, governance, compliance, public law and works closely with clients to project manage and resolve regulatory risk across corporate decision making. Her in-house experience has given her a unique understanding of the machinations of local government, whilst her work in advising developers has enabled her to appreciate the commercial drivers of the development industry.
Rebecca has extensive experience in advising and representing clients in both contentious and non-contentious matters, including in relation to infrastructure development, planning, environment, building, telecommunication, energy, resources, ports, agribusiness, food, electricity, governance, administrative law and compulsory acquisition.
Rebecca is an experienced litigator, having appeared as counsel in conciliation conferences, mediations, reviews, appeals and enforcement matters.
Prior to returning to Norman Waterhouse Lawyers, Rebecca was responsible for the governance functions as a practising lawyer in a South Australian metropolitan council. Having worked in the public sector she is well positioned to appreciate the internal context within local governments, statutory authorities, state government departments, redevelopment authorities and universities.
She also has previous experience as a senior legal practitioner at:
- South Australia’s largest boutique firm dedicated to representing private developer clients;
- an international firm in Western Australia representing local and international clients, such as developers, industrials, multinationals and mining and resource companies; and
- Norman Waterhouse Lawyers representing local government clients in environment and planning matters.
Rebecca has presented to industry groups including the Planning Institute of Australia and Urban Development Institute of Australia. She is a co-author of Planning Law in Australia
