Susan Close will share her insights on some of the most pressing environmental and policy challenges affecting Local Government, including
- climate change, and the government’s Net Zero Strategy and efforts to position South Australia as a leader in climate action and sustainability;
- meeting housing and infrastructure demand challenges while balancing sustainability, green space and heritage protection;
- addressing coastal and marine challenges such as sea level rise, algal blooms, and water quality through sustainable planning and adaptation strategies;
- the recently passed Biodiversity Act, and the government’s leadership in striking a balance between environmental protection and restoration, and economic growth; and
- the emerging green economy and industry opportunities for the State, and the significant flow-on benefits for economic diversification, job creation, innovation and long-term sustainability.
